The
Continentals' Performance
Brings 55 Million [Lei] for the Orphans
August, 10 2002 -- Realitatea Bihoreana

Almost
55 million lei were collected for the orphans at The Continentals'
concert, which took place in Beius on Tuesday. The donations
made by churches, individuals and businesses will help finance
the social and professional integration projects for the
orphans who are over 18 years old, projects initiated by
Good Samaritan. Good Samaritan initiated many projects like
this for the orphans coming from orphanages. The concert
was free for 30 children and teachers from the orphanage.
Elena Cornea, social assistant and administrator of Good
Samaritan and Habitat for Humanity partnership, says:
"The
concert was a very special time, The Continentals have created
a very warm atmosphere." She says that the collected
money will be used for wood projects, for the restaurant
and for constructions.
The
concert in Beius was part of the national tour of the Christian
group, The Continentals. The members of the group will celebrate
35 years performing in Bucuresti, Arad, Sibiu, and Drobeta
Turnu-Severin.
They
spent two days in Beius, housed by the families of the employees
of Good Samaritan. During these days, the 30 members of
the group, coming from 20 American states, have visited
the orphanage from Beius, giving the children many important
things for their daily needs. Before leaving, the group
was taken by Good Samaritan to The Cave of The Bears.
