greetings in Christ's name who is the fundamental basis
of our ministry in Romania! My name is Gabriel Vancea and
I am privileged to be the director for the Good Samaritan.
I worked two years as Habitat volunteer, and than other
2 years as staff as warehouse manager. In this period, I've
worked every day with these orphans. I appreciate them for
the willing to fight despite every daily problems and because
I've been an orphan my-self (at the age 12 my mom passed
away and my father remarried out of our house.)
It's
not easy for the orphans to handle their daily problems
with the education they've received .At the age of 18, they
have to leave the orphanage, alone and helpless. Every year
in Romania there are orphans that find themselves desperate
and living on the streets. Being from the orphanage, it's
hard to get a job, lo be respected and to have a good a
starting point in life.
I
am committed to serve God and these kids' needs in the challenging
and honouring work of coordinating the daily ministry of
Good Samaritan. After beginning our ministry simply by searching
job and shelter, Good Samaritan continued with Habitat for
Humanity - Good Samaritan partnership. This brought more
opportunity of life and professional skills learning.
But
it wasn't enough. Many kids were not prepared to leave our
program. Something had to be done. With God's help and our
supporters, beside this partnership, Good Samaritan manages
three new projects on it's own; Carpentry Workshop, Noah's
Ark and Restaurant.
In
our program are orphans that we helped to start families
on their own, loo. Kiso Remus & Magdafage (age 22) have
two sons, Brasoveanu Marius & Pelacafage (age 19) a
daughter, Varga Greti and Ile losif (age 23) and daughter,
Posncac Silvia (age 25) a son and Bisi Melita & Mark
Petrisor (age 20) have a daughter.
In
this way, their children will know what a family means.
I'm very thankful for all of you that have supported our
work in 2001.
